The customer owns the hardware that has been hosted in the data center and can upgrade the system according to needs. Further, customer’s web site / application would not be affected by other sites / applications on the system (as in the case of shred or virtual web hosting).  Sometimes other web sites’/ applications’ processes or scripts can cause problems on the server, which can affect other sites hosted on that same server. With a collocated Server, customer’s application / site would be the only one on the server and not be affected by other users on the system.
